Spring Fever at the 'Ghee
Spring is in the air at Grand Targhee Resort, and it’s that golden time of year when the snow softens, the layers come off, and the mountain takes on a party vibe that’s impossible to resist. After an incredible season with more than 400 inches of snowfall, the Ghee is holding strong through April 20—and the final weeks are shaping up to be some of the most fun yet.

A Different Kind of Energy
If you’ve never been to Grand Targhee in the spring, let this be your sign. The whole mountain takes on a different energy—playful, laid-back, and a little bit wild in the best way. You’ll still get in solid turns during the day, especially in the mornings when the corduroy is fresh and the corn snow is perfect. But as the afternoon sun hits, things start to feel more like a mountaintop music festival than a ski resort.
Music, Mountain Meals, and Après Magic
Start your day with some buttery spring laps, and then swing by the Trap Bar for a cold beer and live music. Throughout April, The Trap keeps the energy going with local bands and lively après scenes, where skiers peel off layers, kick back in the sun, and trade stories from the hill. There’s nothing quite like sipping a drink on the deck, music in the background, and the Tetons glowing in the afternoon light. And if you're staying the night, be sure to check out the Powder Cache for creative mountain fare and a cozy dining experience that feels both elevated and down-to-earth—perfect after a day in the spring snow.
Kid Time, Grown-Up Time
Families aren’t left out either. Throughout April, Grand Targhee continues to offer family-friendly activities, including the chance for young kids to enjoy pizza and playtime at the Huckleberry Hang Out while parents take a much-needed breather. Whether you're carving spring snow together in the morning or splitting up for some grown-up après and kid-approved fun in the afternoon, there's something for every member of the crew. It’s all part of that relaxed, welcoming vibe that makes spring at the Ghee such a great time to bring the whole family.
Denim, Surf Vibes, and Classic Spring Weirdness
The momentum just keeps building from there. One of Targhee’s most beloved spring traditions, Ski in Jeans Day, returns on April 12. It’s as ridiculous and fun as it sounds—hundreds of skiers and boarders dressed head-to-toe in denim, hitting the slopes to raise awareness for the Family Safety Network and support sexual assault survivors. That same day, the Teton Surf Classic transforms the mountain into a retro surf-style showdown. Expect funky gear, vintage boards, and competitors carving with flair, not just speed.
New This Year: North Shore Banked Slalom
April 13 brings something brand new to the mix with the North Shore Banked Slalom, a fast and flowy course of hand-shaped berms open to riders and skiers of all ages. It’s all about speed, style, and the pure joy of letting gravity do the work.
The Splash Heard ’Round the Mountain
And then—saving the splashiest for last—comes the legendary Pond Skim on Closing Day (April 20). This is Grand Targhee’s grand finale, and it’s pure spring skiing magic. Brave (and sometimes very costumed) participants launch themselves down a slope toward a manmade pond, hoping to hydroplane across to the cheers of a sun-soaked crowd. Some make it. Many don’t. Everyone wins. The pond skim is equal parts chaos and celebration, with DJs spinning, friends lining the course with beers and cameras, and the unmistakable energy of people who just aren’t ready to say goodbye to winter. If you only come up for one day in April, make it this one.
Spring Deals That Make It Easy
To top it off, spring skiing at the Ghee won’t break the bank. From April 6 through closing day, lift tickets are 40% off and lodging is 20% off. Better yet, kids ages 6 to 12 ski free with a two-night stay—making it the perfect time for a family trip or a spontaneous long weekend with friends.
From Closing Turns to New Beginnings
And if, somewhere between your closing-day turns and your après cocktail, you start dreaming about making this place home—we get it. Spring skiing has a way of making you fall for the mountains all over again. Whether you’re thinking about a vacation home, an investment property, or putting down full-time roots, the team at Teton Real Estate Group knows this valley better than anyone. They live for powder days and porch views, and they’ll guide you every step of the way with local knowledge, honest insight, and a deep love for the Teton lifestyle. Because house hunting should feel a lot like a bluebird day at the Ghee—exciting, fun, and full of possibility.
